General questions about the study

The basic studies are completed as soon as you have passed all compulsory courses of the first three semesters (according to the module catalog). Your basic studies as such do not have to be completed within a given period of time. However, passing individual performance components of the basic studies is a prerequisite for passing the orientation and intermediate examinations.

The orientation examination is intended to determine at an early stage whether the initial performance in the studies of the chosen degree program makes it advisable to continue the studies with the aim of first successfully completing the basic studies. The orientation examination should be taken by the end of the third semester after the subsequent examination period.

Attention: The requirements for passing the orientation exam vary depending on the beginning of your studies. You can inform yourself individually in the examination regulations applicable to your start of studies.

Addition: If you are affected by a Corona semester, the deadline for taking the orientation exam might have been extended accordingly.
